Lifestyle Interiors undertake home refurbishments for Kensington residents with full project management support for modern, Edwardian, Victorian and Georgian properties.
Contrary to popular conception, London didn't really exist before the Roman occupation of Britain, and even then Colchester was the capital. Following the fall of Rome in the 5th century London was practically abandoned. It wasn't until the 12th century that London became the capital. In the 16th century Kensington was still primarily rural but because it was close to London it became popular with the aristocracy who built many grand mansions. In 1689 William III who suffered from asthma and wanted to move to a more rural region bought Nottingham House and commissioned Christopher Wren to turn it into Kensington Palace with Kensington Gardens as the palace's private grounds. This stimulated more aristocrats to build in the area, and the borough's fate as a location 'inhabited by gentry and persons of note...' (John Bowack, 1705) became sealed.
Whilst Kensington is not quite the seat of modern aristocracy today the architectural legacy remains and over 70% of property is within a conservation area with the remainder subject to strict building regulations. A particular focus of ours is West Kensington which is primarily a residential area consisting mainly of Victorian terraced houses, many of which are subdivided into flats. There are excellent examples of Victorian architecture, with several houses and some entire streets listed - including the imposing mansion blocks of Fitzgeorge Avenue (off North End Road) and the mansion blocks around Avonmore Road including, Glyn Mansions (Built 1897), Avonmore Mansions and Avonmore Gardens (Built 1893) which is located next to the new Kensington Village development.
As a professional building company we still aim to treat our customers like aristocrats, Lords and Ladies and have a particular empithy towards the buildings and character of the area.

Even though many of the homes were designed for Lords and Ladies, this doesn't mean we have to continue living with Stuart style interiors. Lifestyle Interiors can not only offer you modern electricity and telephonic contraptions but they can offer you the latest in contemporary (ie, not Jacobean) style interiors from leading designer brands.

Whilst your house is already probably worth quite a bit, if its in Kensington, this is no guarantee that it will hold its value. A home refurbishment will bring your place up to speed, especially if it still doesn't have an indoor lavatory, and enhance its potential for sale price. Lifestyle Interiors can replace old bakerlight switch's with modern lighting controls, mangles and washboards with electrical washing/drying machines from leading manufacturers and traditional fabric-covered electric cables with modern wiring. Investments such as these witl not only maintain your homes value but will also increase its worth when it comes to be sold. If your interested in making an investment in your own home then Lifestyle Interiors can help you.
